Specializing in hearty, comforting dishes that satisfy even the most discerning morning appetites, this local gem draws diners who crave generous portions and authentic taste.

The menu at Happy Day Cafe boasts a delightful array of breakfast favorites, each crafted with care and a touch of Southern flair. Picture biting into their sumptuous Breakfast Burrito, a large flour tortilla tightly wrapped around fluffy eggs, crispy bacon, and creamy refried beans, all crowned with a luscious housemade cheese sauce that tantalizes the palate. Or imagine savoring the Traditional French Toast made from thick Texas toast, perfectly caramelized with a golden crust and served with syrup on the side, inviting each bite to be dipped and drizzled to your liking.

For those seeking a twist on a brunch classic, the Biscuit Benedict impresses with handmade biscuits generously topped with savory ham, poached eggs, and a velvety, seasoned hollandaise sauce. Although one guest found the biscuit a touch on the flaky side, many praise the authenticity and bold flavors that make this dish stand out. Another standout is the Croissant Sandwich filled with a fried egg, sliced avocado, and melted cheese—a rich yet fresh combination that feels both indulgent and balanced.

No brunch experience here would be complete without sampling the array of sides and snacks. The Sweet Potato Fries come with just the right hint of sweetness paired with crispiness, while the Fried Green Tomatoes offer a satisfying crunch tempered by a zesty dipping sauce that ignites the taste buds. The Hand-Battered Onion Rings and Fried Cheese Bites provide indulgent bites that are perfect for sharing or enjoying solo as a savory treat.

Happy Day Cafe’s beverage selection rounds out the meal with familiar favorites and refreshing options, from classic bottled sodas and teas to the trendy TopoChico mineral water. This subtle yet thoughtful variety ensures every guest finds their perfect pairing.

Customers frequently highlight the impeccable service and inviting ambiance. Wolf Kelly captures the spirit of this “great lil hole in the wall cafe” by applauding both the cleanliness and the friendly, speedy staff who clearly care about quality—from perfectly caramelized onions to house-made biscuits. The warm, modest decor lends a comfortable charm, making the cafe ideal for both quick stops and leisurely brunch dates.

Of course, no dining spot is without its small quirks; some guests note minor concerns like the sticky floor or the occasional mix-up in orders. Yet these moments rarely overshadow the joy inspired by plates brimming with flavor and heart. The collective enthusiasm, especially for standout dishes like the addictively crispy breakfast potatoes and the unforgettable orange cranberry French toast with its luscious citrus glaze, testifies to the cafe’s authentic appeal.

In essence, Happy Day Cafe is a genuine brunch haven where traditional American comfort food is celebrated with generous portions, thoughtful execution, and lots of soul. Whether you’re a local or willing to take a short drive, this spot promises a satisfying meal that feels like a warm, flavorful hug—one you’ll want to return to time and again.

Great lil hole in the wall cafe. Friendly, clean, quick. They actually know how to caramelize onions! Biscuits seem made in house. Chicken fried steak had good flavor and was bigger than expected. Gravy has good flavor, potatoes were amazing. I enjoyed everything here. Def a place to eat at, even if you have to travel a lil bit to get to it.

Friendly service and delicious breakfast. My only complaint is my son ordered the peanut butter French toast but they gave him a berry one. He started eating before remembering and it was delicious, so he wasn't worth about it. My husband said they have one of the top five biscuits and gravy he's ever had, and he eats it a lot. My croissant sandwich was delicious.

This place has a lot of potential!! 4 stars due to one and only one downside, as soon as you walk through those doors you hear your shoes squeak which means the floors are unclean and sticky. The tables were sparkling clean with no stains or stickiness. The decor is modest, American and welcoming at the same time. The food was all delicious! We ordered sweet potato fries, croissant sandwich and breakfast sandwich. All the 3 were tasty and savoring. Portion size is good and filling. The only coffee options they have is plain black coffee with unflavored cream but They do have a refrigerator with a couple of cold coffee options from Starbucks and some sodas. Service was excellent. All the occupied tables were checked upon on multiple times by the staff. Staff is pleasant and homely. Ordering food was smooth and easy. I will recommend this place for anyone who wants to have some good breakfast when in live oak!

I got the biscuit benedict. It was decent. The biscuit though was too flaky and dry, making it hard to eat. The hollandaise was very sour as well. The potatoes were tasty but they weren't crispy. Overall good for the price. I decided to try them again for lunch. I got a cheeseburger and a cookie to take home. Found out they have cans of sparkling water! Make sure to note that the burgers don't come with a side, you have to ask for a side. The burger patty was moist but tasted boiled. The cheese wasn't good, it coagulated and was sticky. Fries were tasty.

Where has this place been all my life? Amazing food and service! Those breakfast potatoes are addicting. Can't stop won't stop eating them. I had the orange cranberry French toast and that orange sauce...chef's kiss! So delicious! The cranberries are cooked into the French toast! How? No idea but delicious! Also tried the scrambled egg rolls. Yep, you read that correctly, scrambled eggs in an egg roll! I was skeptical but they are food from the heavens! Prices are really reasonable and well worth it! Stop reading and go eat!

What a wonderful hidden delight! We were looking for a good brunch and didn’t want a chain (Sysco) breakfast! We had never heard of or seen Happy Day Cafe and decided to give it a try. Halfway through our meal my husband asked “what are s their rating” when I told him it was 4.5 he said “that’s way too low, this food is great!” We will def be back and highly recommend you try this place asap!

This restaurant truly has the potential to be a standout dining destination, featuring excellent food and a welcoming staff. However, there are some areas that could use improvement, particularly in terms of cleanliness and ambiance. The highlight of the menu is undoubtedly the Eggs Benedict, which showcases a rich hollandaise sauce paired with perfectly cooked eggs. The crispy seasoned potatoes add a nice touch as well, though it would be helpful for the menu to specify that they include onions. The large, flaky biscuits are a delightful addition to the meal. It's worth noting that the food is best enjoyed fresh from the kitchen, as To-Go orders may not capture the same quality. The service is commendable, with attentive staff who proactively address any issues that arise. The sweet tea is refreshing, although it may be on the milder side for those who prefer a sweeter taste. Additionally, the portion sizes are generous for the price, providing hearty meals that are budget-friendly. On the downside, the experience is somewhat marred by sticky floors and unclean walls, which detract from the overall ambiance. A thorough deep clean would greatly enhance the dining atmosphere. This restaurant shines in both food and service, but by addressing the cleanliness concerns, it has the potential to become a must-visit spot. Until those aspects are improved, it’s still worthwhile to endure the sticky floors for the delicious Eggs Benedict. Rating: 3.5/5
